Arsenal will take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Barnes has predicted Spurs to pick up all three points courtesy of a 2-1 victory.
“It’s the game of the weekend, this one,” the former Celtic manager wrote on Titanbet.co.uk. “The North London clubs are fighting it out for the title and there are some good players on show.
“But with the game being at White Hart Lane, I think that Tottenham will grab the win. Tight, but 2-1 with Alexis Sanchez scoring for Arsenal and two goals for Harry Kane for Spurs.”
Former Aston Villa and Everton striker Andy Gray has predicted the North London derby to end in a 2-2 draw.
“How sweet it would be for Spurs fans if they could essentially end Arsenal’s title challenge once and for all on Saturday?” the former Scotland international wrote on Paddypower.com. “Not only that, it’d put them on top of the table for a few hours.
“But everyone seems to be writing off Arsene Wenger’s men. They need to respond to everything that’s happened over the last week. They’ll be relishing this tie though. If you’re looking for value, go for Dele Alli as first goalscorer. But I can’t split them.”
A footnote added: “Andy’s bet: Spurs 2-2 Arsenal at 11/1.”
Tottenham will head into the North London derby as favourites, and playing at home will also give them an advantage.
The Gunners are in poor form at the moment, and pressure is increasing on manager Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal need to raise their game considerably in order to match Tottenham, and the question is whether the players will be able to.
The first goal will be important. If the Gunners get it, then they will be in a good position to at least force a draw.
