Andy Carroll calls out predictable Tottenham, says West Ham knew how to beat them

West Ham ace gloats after win over Tottenham, can Arsenal learn from his comments?

West Ham striker Andy Carroll has told The Mirror that he never doubted his side's ability to beat Tottenham.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool forward called out Tottenham's tactics, saying the Hammers knew exactly how Mauricio Pochettino's team would play, and how to combat them.

He said: "We knew exactly how they'd play and how to break them down. We knew exactly what they were going to do to us. So from the get-go we went out and attacked them.

"We did to them what they have done to a lot of teams this season - we knew all about their counter attack."

West Ham won the midweek game 1-0 thanks to a Michail Antonio goal after just seven minutes.

Carroll's comments rub salt into the wound for Tottenham, who missed a chance to climb to the top of the Premier League table.

Spurs face rivals Arsenal this weekend at White Hart Lane, but the question is whether Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will offer his side the same tactical insight into Tottenham's game that Slaven Bilic evidently did in midweek.

Tottenham do not sit in second place in the table undeservedly. They have lost only four league games this season and are real contenders to win the league.

West Ham's win shows they are making good progress, and will need to follow it up this weekend with a result at Everton.
