Liverpool defeated Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Liverpool attacking midfielder Adam Lallana had arguably his best game of the campaign as his side gained revenge for their recent League Cup final defeat by thrashing Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield.
The Reds headed into the encounter coming off the back of a disappointing penalty shootout defeat to City in the League Cup final at Wembley, but they soon put that out of their system.
Goals from Lallana, James Milner and Roberto Firmino did the damage as Liverpool completely dominated a City who looked way off the pace both in and out of possession.
There were a number of superb performers for Liverpool, with Jon Flanagan’s display up against Raheem Sterling a real highlight, but it was former Southampton man Lallana who ultimately stole the show.

As shown by the table provided by Opta, Lallana worked tirelessly throughout and finally matched his endeavour out of possession with the quality to make a real difference when on the ball.
The England international posted one shot, three key passes, three successful take-ons, 77 touches, 41 accurate passes and 13 ball recoveries over the course of the 90 minutes.
Lallana’s opening goal came after a well-worked move as Liverpool moved the ball around quickly, before catching everyone by surprise as he fired his side ahead with an optimistic low drive from 25 yards out.
With many Reds players arguably playing for their futures following a somewhat disappointing Premier League campaign, they certainly stepped up to the plate and gave manager Jurgen Klopp a brilliant response.
