Tottenham's top 30 players of all time - Number 29

Dimitar Berbatov makes it into Tottenham Hotspur's top 30 stars.

Dimitar Berbatov’s White Hart Lane exit in 2008 may have left a bitter taste in the mouths of Tottenham Hotspur fans, but in the two years he was at the club he was their star turn.

The Bulgarian international signed for Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2006 after scoring 90 goals in 202 matches for the German side and he went on to find the net 46 times in 101 games for the North London club.

With a goal almost every other game there was no doubting Berbatov’s influence up front and he also provided 24 assists before he left in a big-money move to Old Trafford.

His most memorable moment in a Tottenham shirt came when he scored four goals in a 6-4 victory against Reading, a performance that showed him in all his glory.

At that time Berbatov was at the top of his game and his performance against the Royals was a sight to behold – although it may also have gone a long way to making up Sir Alex Ferguson’s mind regarding a potential bid.

Berbatov was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2007 and he won the League Cup with Spurs in 2008.
