Former Newcastle United player Steve Howey says that he hopes that there is still enough time for his old side to make it out of relegation trouble.
Newcastle lost 1-0 to Stoke City yesterday, and they have fallen down to 19th place in the Premier League table.
The Magpies are one point away from safety, but Howey feels that there is still time for them to make it out of the relegation zone.
Well only 7 goals and 2 wins away from home this season, apparently a decent performance but still it's another loss, but still time, I hope— Steve Howey (@stevehowey624) March 2, 2016
Newcastle have 11 matches left to make it out of the bottom three, with the pressure on the side increasing by the match.
The Magpies actually spent big in January to try and move away from the drop zone, but they haven’t managed to make many improvements.
Although they are beaten at St. James’ Park in 2016, Newcastle’s away form has been dreadful.
Steve McClaren’s side’s loss against Stoke was their seventh consecutive defeat on their travels, and unless they start picking up results on the road then their chances of surviving look slim.
Newcastle’s next match comes against Bournemouth at St. James’ Park, and only a victory will suffice.
