In the build-up to the Championship game between Hull City and Wednesday at the KC Stadium last Friday evening (February 26), the former Wednesday midfielder said on Sky Sports 1 about Forestieri: “He has got that little bit of devil in him as well as the fantastic skills that he has got.
“I was listening to him talk before, he has a nice humility about the way he talks. I think what he brings to the team is just that bit of magic that Sheffield Wednesday have been crying out for the last couple of seasons.”
Forestieri joined Wednesday from Premier League side Watford in the summer of 2015. The Italian, who can play as striker or as an attacking midfielder, has proved to be a good signing for the Owls.
The former Genoa and Udinese prospect has scored 12 goals and created created 23 chances in 25 Championship appearances so far this season.
Forestieri has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 56%, and has won 11 headers, 28 dribbles and 45 tackles.
Wednesday are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 55 points from 34 matches. Carlos Carvalhal’s side currently occupy the final playoff spot, and there is a good chance that they will end up in the top six.
The Owls will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Rotherham United at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship.
