Liverpool quickly erased their painful penalty shootout defeat in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley to Manchester City, by beating the victors.
Jurgen Klopp's side methodically exacted their revenge with a 3-0 win, and were the better side throughout.
The win put a big dent in City's title challenge and leaves them looking nervously over their shoulders in terms of staying in the top four.
Former Liverpool boss Roy Evans reacted on Twitter to the performance, hailing the attitude of the players.
Great reaction and performance showed a terrific attitude from Flannos first minute tackle on Sterling right to the end.More of the same— ROY EVANS (@Roy_Evo) March 2, 2016
Liverpool are up to eighth position as a result of the victory, having been in 11th at the start of the evening, with Adam Lallana, James Milner and Roberto Firmino scoring the goals.
BBC pundit Robbie Savage picked out another player as the star man, picking out the display of German ace Emre Can.

Can touched the ball 83 times, more than any Liverpool player, and was a force to be reckoned with defensively, making seven tackles and four interceptions.
He even made time to create a goalscoring opportunity and this is a big improvement from 12 months ago when he was being played in central defence. The former Bayer Leverkusen man has a very bright future under Jurgen Klopp if he continues to play like this.
