Everton are reportedly keen on Iranian forward Sardar Azmoun.

Everton are keen to sign Rubin Kazan forward Sardar Azmoun - recently compared to Lionel Messi - as noted in a report from The Sun.

The Toffees are bracing themselves for a potentially huge summer, having received major investment from Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri last weekend, and fans are already keen to see the club splash the new-found cash on a host of signings.

Now, The Sun report that Everton are keen on a move to sign Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun, who has been tipped for big things for almost two years now.

Azmoun, 21, has hit eight goals in 14 games for the Iranian national team, and his reputation as the nation's very own version of Lionel Messi, meaning he should be very familiar to his compatriot Moshiri.

The Rubin Kazan-owned forward has hit six goals in 24 games on loan with Russian rivals Rostov, and his performances there could trigger a big summer move away from Russia, two years after he could have joined one of the Premier League's top teams.

Intriguingly, Azmoun claimed two years ago - as quoted by Sky Sports - that he had an offer on the table to join Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window, but that deal never went through for one reason or another.

Now though, the highly-rated Azmoun could still get his move to the Premier League, as Everton - possibly driven by Moshiri's knowledge of the player - could make a move to sign 'the Iranian Messi' this summer.
