The Argentine has been discussing Tottenham's 1-0 loss at West Ham.
And the Tottenham boss believes that was his side's biggest hindrance at Upton Park.
He also praised West Ham's physicality, admitting they made life very difficult for the north London outfit.
The Argentine told Sky reporters: "Always it is difficult, it was a game that was more physical than others, in the way that they play, always this long ball, and they try to fight in every action, and they are very strong.
"For us it was difficult for the way that we want to play and the pitch doesn't help us. But I think in the second half we had more freedom, played better and created chances.
"First half was difficult for us to adapt in the different circumstance, the pitch was the first."
However, Pochettino was keen to point out he isn't looking for excuses after Spurs' defeat. It simply looks like a tough day where the best team won at West Ham.
The good news for Tottenham, however, is that Arsenal and Manchester City also lost. Even title winners can lose a game - and plenty of them will lose at West Ham.
Leicester City's 2-2 draw against West Brom does mean they gained a point on Tottenham this week, of course, but there are still plenty of twists and turns left this season...
