Matt Murray speaks highly of Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matt Murray said on Sky Sports 1 last Friday evening that Sheffield Wednesday’s Keiren Westwood is the best goalkeeper in the Championship.

In the build-up to the Championship game between Hull City and Wednesday at the KC Stadium last Friday evening (February 26), Murray said on Sky Sports 1 about Westwood: “For me, probably the best goalkeeper in the division.”

Westwood joined Wednesday in the summer of 2014 and has proven to be a good signing for the Owls.

The Republic of Ireland international is a very good goalkeeper and is also very reliable.

The 31-year-old has kept seven clean sheets in 23 Championship appearances so far this season.

Westwood has made 1.74 saves per game and 1.82 saves per goal on average for Wednesday this campaign.

The Owls are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 55 points from 34 matches.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side currently occupy the final playoff spot, and there is a very good chance that they will end up in the top six.

Wednesday will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Rotherham United at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship.
