The one-time England striker says Arsene Wenger is making excuses.
Former Arsenal forward Jay Bothroyd has reacted on Twitter to Arsene Wenger's post-match press conference following Wednesday night's crushing 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea City.
Goals from Wayne Routledge and Ashley Williams saw the visitors come from behind to stun the Gunners, who went ahead in the first half through Joel Campbell.
In doing so, Wenger's side missed the chance to move three points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City in what is proving a fascinating title race.
Despite the abject display, Wenger cited bad luck as the main reason for the defeat, as well as noting that he believes his side should have had a free kick in the build-up to the Swans' equaliser.
But Bothroyd, who started his career with the North Londoners, before leaving at the age of 18 in 2000, claims that the French manager is too fond of excuses these days.
I just heard Arsenes post match interview, I don't know how other people took it but it always seems to be excuses lately? Or is it just me— Jay bothroyd (@jaybothroyd) March 2, 2016
It gets no easier for Arsenal, who make the short trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday for what promises to be a massive North London derby with second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
