Liverpool have a bloated squad but an opportunity may have arisen to sort that very problem.
Chinese Super League money has attracted some big names over the last few weeks. It's also attracted some smaller names - but ones Premier League clubs needed to offload.
Chelsea negotiated an exit for Ramires, West Ham United were able to sell Nikica Jelavic to China, while players such as Ezequiel Lavezzi and Alex Teixeira also made the move.
Could this present an opportunity not to be missed for Liverpool?
Liverpool have a bloated squad. There is talent at Anfield but there are also the likes of Alberto Moreno, Jose Enrique, Balotelli, Christian Benteke and more.
The problem the Reds have faced in recent seasons is a preference for a low net spend but a reluctance from other European sides to buy Liverpool's unwanted players. The rise of Chinese clubs could be the perfect solution, however.
Just look at Paulinho last summer. He couldn't get into the starting XI at White Hart Lane but was not just sold, he was offloaded for a very good price indeed.
Should Liverpool sell Balotelli for money back or even a profit, they could do similar with Benteke and would already have themselves enough funds for one brilliant signing or two good ones right there. If the Reds play their cards right, China could provide the funds for a Jurgen Klopp spending spree next summer...
