Clive Allen explains what makes West Ham so fearsome to play against

West Ham defeated Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Clive Allen has explained what makes West Ham such a fearsome team to play this season.

Allen said: “I think, apart from Leicester, West Ham are the team you would least like to be playing in the Premier League at the moment. Purely because of their physicality, the way they are playing, and their confidence. And wouldn’t it be something - West Ham in European football next season.”

The Hammers picked up another three points on Wednesday evening, securing a 1-0 at home to Tottenham.

Michail Antonio scored again, and Slaven Bilic’s team held firm in the defence to prevent Spurs from scoring - or even really threatening Adrian’s goal.

It was a top class performance from West Ham, and Bilic got his tactics spot on to nullify a team many expected to go top of the Premier League table.

Bilic has proven to be a very good coach this season, but he has been helped by the squad assembled at the Boleyn Ground.

He has a team of technically gifted players, but players who can also match up on a physical level with any opponent they face.

This has helped them on a great run of form, which sees them challenging for Champions League football, and the confidence they have gained from these results means it is hard to see which game they will lose next.

The Hammers are really pushing to secure European football, and if they continue to play as they are, that should be an easy task.
