Charlie Nicholas feels Tottenham have a disadvantage in the title race

Tottenham Hotspur currently trail Leicester City by three points in the race for the Premier League title.

Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports Soccer Special, which was broadcast on March 2, that Leicester City now hold an advantage over Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the title.

Spurs had the opportunity to overtake Leicester at the top of the Premier League table last night, but the blew their opportunity.

The Lilywhites were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United at Upton Park, after failing to perform to the best of their ability against their London rivals.

Tottenham are now stationed three points behind Leicester, and Nicholas believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in an unenviable position, as they are always going to be playing catch up.

"The hardest thing in football to do when you’re going for titles is chase," he said.

"When you’re chasing for it, you’re scrambling and you’re scrambling, but if you make one mistake, you’re dead. All of a sudden, this is what faces them. Leicester are sitting pretty."

Leicester’s position at the top of the table looked under threat when they drew with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.

However, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City all fell to defeats last night - meaning Claudio Ranieri’s side actually ended up extending their lead by picking up a point.

Tottenham do have a chance to leapfrog the Foxes again this weekend, though, when they meet Arsenal.

If Spurs beat the Gunners they will move ahead of Leicester in the standings, and take a big step closer to lifting their first ever Premier League title.
