Championship fans join forces to slate Birmingham's Jacques Maghoma

Birmingham City FC - St. Andrews

Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and even Birmingham City fans were critical of Maghoma's role in the 1-0 win against Hull City.

It's fair to say Jacques Maghoma's Birmingham career is going better than his Sheffield Wednesday one ever did.

Maghoma struggled for consistency during his two years at Hillsborough and was often a source of frustration for many match-goers.

However, he appears to be thriving at St. Andrew's, after reuniting with his former Burton Albion boss Gary Rowett in the summer.

Together, they've helped the Blues to seventh in the Championship, and after beating Hull City 1-0 on Thursday, they're only a point behind Maghoma's old club Wednesday, who occupy the final play-off spot.

The winger has contributed four goals and two assists so far this season, and Rowett last week admitted that the club were keen to tie him to a new deal as a reward for his recent form.

But for many Blues, Owls and others on Twitter, Maghoma's form did not extend into Thursday night:

Maghoma tasted defeat in both his matches against Wednesday this season, but could yet have the last laugh, with 12 games left to play.

On Thursday, the 28-year-old was called up to the DR Congo squad for this month's African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Luanda.
