Patrick Roberts started and completed his first full game for Celtic on Wednesday evening.
The young winger signed on an 18-month loan from Manchester City in the January transfer window, and has spent the last few weeks getting up to speed at Parkhead.
He featured for eight minutes as a substitute against Inverness last month, and Ronny Deila clearly believed he warranted a first start against Dundee.
However, the youngster could not help his loan team to victory, as the Bhoys struggled for a draw with Dundee.
The result was Celtic’s sixth draw of the season, and it meant they failed to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. They currently sit four points ahead of Aberdeen, who will believe they can still topple the Bhoys off the top of the table.
Despite the struggles in the game, Roberts looked sharp and talented, although he could not pick up all three points single handedly.
The teenager showed flashes of his talent, and he is sure to grow in prominence at Parkhead over the coming months.
Following his full debut, Celtic fans took to Twitter to react to Roberts’ day for the the Bhoys, with some mixed views from the crowd.
Only passes for me tonight Kieran Tierney and Svitachenko! Btw Patrick Roberts will be a star once he gets upto speed!— Hail Hail (@HoopsmanBrian) March 2, 2016
Patrick Roberts is a level above us and it showed tonight. Boys a class act but that character says he won't "rush" him in— Darren Carson (@DarrenCarson_) March 2, 2016
Did they really give Patrick Roberts MOTM? clueless. Tierney was decent, that's it. No one else can hold their head high after that— Steven McNamara (@steviemac_11) March 2, 2016
Today, 02 March 2016, i say that Patrick Roberts will become one of the best player in the world.— Mariano Romano (@Marro1926) March 2, 2016
But...but...I though Patrick Roberts played like Messi ? How can Celtic remain goalless ? I don't understand...— SDF (@GoodCopBabcock) March 2, 2016
On a more positive note, Patrick Roberts is having a blinder and is a class above. Confirming what we already knew, massive talent.— Pottsy (@p0ttsy95) March 2, 2016
Patrick Roberts a kid puts most of our players to shame. The only player who's shown technique & can keep the ball when under pressure.— ET (HappyChappy) (@Celt4Life_07) March 2, 2016
Patrick Roberts the one positive. But we're giving him the ball and all backing off, he's not Messi, yet, needs some support. #Celtic— Alex Milobinder (@Yossarian_sco) March 2, 2016
Patrick Roberts is going to be scarily good in 4-5 years time. He's already brilliant now #Celtic— RossMac (@Roshe67) March 2, 2016
Everyone apart from Patrick Roberts sounds rubbish. Patrick. Roberts. Pat.— Gerry Braiden (@BraidenHT) March 2, 2016
