Timothy Fosu-Mensah helped Manchester United keep a clean sheet against Watford.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah was composed on his first start for Manchester United as he helped the Red Devils to a 1-0 victory at home to Watford.
The Dutch teenager started at centre-back alongside Daley Blind, with Guillermo Varela and Marcos Rojo as full backs.
The game was Fosu-Mensah's second for the Red Devils, after coming on against Arsenal at the weekend in a 3-2 victory.
He has been impressing for the under-21s since signing from Ajax and showed last night that he is not fazed by stepping up to the first team.
Fosu-Mensah was a big contributor defensively, making four interceptions, the joint highest in the side, matching Morgan Schneiderlin and Guillermo Varela.
His three tackles won was a figure matched only by Ander Herrera and Daley Blind, with impressive displays all over the pitch from United.
They were a tad fortunate not to concede with Odion Ighalo going close on several occasions, but United held out, and that will give the teenage defender plenty of cause to be positive, and should earn him further opportunities.
