The Everton forward is in fine form this season and a former club have taken note.
The Belgian international broke a record that had stood for over 20 years when he netted in a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening, tacking his tally for the campaign to 17 in 22 league games and 22 in 34 appearances in all competitions.
That is a superb record and Anderlecht were clearly paying attention as they sent him a congratulatory message on social media this week.
“Congratulations Romelu Lukaku with your new record,” the Belgian club wrote, along with the hashtag “Made in Anderlecht”.
Lukaku scored 41 goals in 98 appearances for them before moving to Chelsea, where he was inexplicably overlooked despite his undeniable talent.
Still, Everton fans will not be complaining and at this rate the 22-year-old will go on to break many more records before he ultimately hangs up his boots.
Everton are currently 11th in the Premier League with their next match coming against West Ham United this weekend.
