Alan Shearer jokes about Aston Villa fans, expresses surprise at 74th-minute walkout

The pundit has been discussing Villa fans and what they have to put up with in the Midlands.

Alan Shearer has joked that he can't believe Aston Villa fans lasted 74 minutes before walking out against Everton on Tuesday night, according to BBC Football.

Indeed, some supporters left at the designated minute as part of a planned gesture but the pundit expressed his surprise they lasted that long!

And Shearer told Match of the Day on Wednesday night: "I’m surprised they lasted 74 minutes. I’m surprised they’ve been so supportive. They’ve been trying to sign basement bargains for too long."

There genuinely seems no hope of a Villa victory whenever they play a side that isn't in woeful form themselves (Norwich City was their only recent win and Crystal Palace slightly further back).

Next up for Aston Villa is a trip to Manchester City, which won't make things any easier for Remi Garde's men. Yes, City lost 3-0 at Liverpool and don't look at all interested in the Premier League anymore.

But the chances of Villa getting anything from the Etihad are slim, especially when you consider one of their best performances of the season only resulted in a 0-0 draw against City at Villa Park.
