A sign of things to come? Celtic summer signing Ryan Christie downs Rangers in Under-21 Old Firm derby

The talented midfielder was signed from Inverness in the summer.

Celtic and Rangers may not get to face each other on a regular basis at a senior level at the moment, but that is not the case at under-21 level.

Today the two teams youngsters went toe-to-toe at Murray Park and it was The Young Bhoys who picked up the win.

The goal actually came from a summer signing who is a massive hope for the future at Parkhead.

Celtic signed Ryan Christie from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer, but immediately loaned him back to the club.

He was recalled from the loan in December and has since gone on to feature for the Celtic first-team.

But he was the star of the show for the under-21s, running things in midfield and then grabbing the winning goal.

Rangers look like earning promotion back to the Scottish top flight this season. In the years to come the Old Firm rivals will face off a lot at senior level.

A young player like Christie will be hoping to feature in such matches in the years to come. As far as Celtic fans are concerned, they will hope today's events are a glimpse into the future.
