Sheffield Wednesday's Bus scores first goal for Salernitana - and it was one to remember

Striker Sergiu Bus moved to Serie B side Salernitana on loan from Sheffield Wednesday in January.

Sheffield Wednesday striker Sergiu Bus scored the first goal of his loan spell at Salernitana on Tuesday - and it was certainly one to remember.

Bus became one of the first signings of the Dejphon Chansiri era when he arrived at Hillsborough from CSKA Sofia in February 2014, but appeared just 10 times for the Owls before returning to the continent.

The Romanian's only goal for Wednesday came during a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town last April, although he should have doubled his tally in September's 1-0 win at Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup, when he hit the crossbar from close range with the goalkeeper beaten.

And his St. James' Park miss becomes even more unfathomable upon witnessing his strike against Virtus Entella on Tuesday.

Bus, who was making his first start for the relegation battlers, drew his side level with a superb solo effort in the second half. The 22-year-old picked up the ball deep inside Entella's half and drove towards the edge of the box, where he evaded one challenge and curled low and hard into the bottom right-hand corner.

Bus, a former Romania Under-21 international, is due to return to Carlos Carvalhal's squad this summer and has another two years to run on his Owls contract.
