Liam Burt made his Ranges debut on Tuesday evening, and two of his young teammates took to Twitter to congratulate him for turning out on the Ibrox pitch.
Jordan Thompson and Ryan Hardie took to Twitter to congratulate the midfielder, who has been playing alongside them in the Rangers’ youth ranks for much of the season.
Thompson is currently on loan at Airdrieonians, and Hardie is, incidentally, on loan at Tuesday’s opponents Raith Rovers. However, he could not feature in the game against his parent club.
Instead, the duo watched on as they saw the 17-year-old make his debut for the Gers, after an excellent season in the development squad.
Although Rangers have been struggling at youth level, Burt has put in top class performances every week, and it is clear that he is too good for development level.
Even though he is just 17, he is already a Scottish Under-19 international, and many expect him to progress to the senior squad before too long.
He is held in extremely high regard, and he made it onto the bench for two of the first-team games since the turn of the year.
He was once again on the bench against Raith, and with the Gers leading 2-0, Mark Warburton opted to throw Burt into the fray with just under 10 minutes of the game remaining.
It is expected to be the first of many games for the Gers, and Thompson and Hardie - who have already made their debuts for Rangers - will be hoping to appear alongside Burt in the senior team in the future.
