Is Leeds United's Casper Sloth being damned with faint praise?

Leeds United East Stand

The Leeds United midfielder looks almost certain to leave the club in the summer given his lack of first-team chances at Elland Road.

In a recent interview with LUTV broadcast on Monday 29 February, Leeds United’s under-21 coach Paul Hart saluted the continuing impressive attitude of midfielder Casper Sloth.

The thing is, those comments are beginning to sound like faint praise because no matter how much the Danish midfielder keeps his head down, does what he is told and performs for Leeds’ second string, it is clear he is not going to get a sniff of first-team action this season.

The right attitude can take you a long way in the game, but no one would blame Sloth if he was getting tired of hearing what a great professional he is when Leeds boss Steve Evans continually overlooks him.

The 23-year-old has only featured 14 times for Leeds’ senior side since he signed from Aarhus and he could be fighting a losing cause, but when you consider his versatility, his impressive goal-scoring return for the under-21s and that famous great attitude, why on earth would you not bring him in from the cold?

After all, some of Evans’ current options could be accused of having anything but the right attitude for the fight.
