Crystal Palace and Sunderland drew 2-2 at the Stadium of Light last night.
Crystal Palace fans have praised Connor Wickham, after the striker got on the scoresheet twice against Sunderland yesterday evening.
The 22-year-old forward helped Alan Pardew’s side claim a point at the Stadium of Light, after falling behind in the first half.
Sunderland scored first in the contest when Dame N’Doye tucked home in the first half, and it would have been easy for Palace to crumble at that point.
However, Wickham hit back by scoring twice in quick succession in the second half.
Although the striker’s brace was not enough to provide Palace with the three points, as Fabio Borini scored a late equaliser, it did offer hope that he is starting to come good at the London club.
Wickham has scored four times in his last two appearances, after previously struggling to make an impression at Selhurst Park.
Before his recent purple patch, the England youth international has failed to score in open play throughout the whole season.
However, Wickham now appears to have established himself as Palace’s main front man, and the reaction to his performance on social media has been very positive.
The end of season 'clean break' deal with Ade is a masterstroke. Even if he doesn't play again, it gives Wickham impetus #cpfc— Danny (@Danny1971turner) March 2, 2016
Really hope this is the start of Wickham scoring lots of goals for us! #cpfc— Katie (@katie_cpfc_xx) March 2, 2016
Another brace for Wickham. Haven't seen the goals but always thought he was a decent striker, just needed the right service #cpfc— ®️ory (@RoryPellow) March 1, 2016
Thought we were ok tonight. Bit unlucky not to win, but good point. Pleased for Wickham. Zaha wound me up, needs to stay on his feet. #cpfc— Daren Lowry (@darenlowry) March 1, 2016
