Santi Cazorla has revealed that he will be "ready" on 1 April after reports that he could miss the remainder of the season.
Injured Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has moved quickly to dispel concerns that he could miss the remainder of the season with a longstanding knee injury, writing on Twitter that his recovery is on track for him to return at the start of April.
The 31-year-old has not featured for the Gunners since rupturing a knee ligament at the end of November, having played 19 times in all competitions in the first four months of the season.
There have been conflicting reports as to when he will be fit to return, with the Spanish international declaring last month that he was targeting a return in the Champions League last-16 second-leg clash with Barcelona on 16 March.
However, rumours yesterday suggested that the midfielder had suffered a setback in his injury and may not be fit to make a comeback before the end of the season.
Cazorla has now taken to Twitter to clarify the situation.
Surprised by the piece of news appeared in press, deadlines are going as planned. I will be ready on 1st April. #workinghard— Santi Cazorla (@19SCazorla) March 2, 2016
He wrote on his personal account: "Surprised by the piece of news appeared [sic] in press, deadlines are going as planned. I will be ready on 1st April."
Cazorla had not found the net in his 19 appearances at club level before being ruled out of action, but his return would undoubtedly be a huge boost for Arsene Wenger's faltering side.
The Gunners have not won any of their last three games after securing what looked like a pivotal victory over Premier League leaders Leicester City on Valentine's Day.
They failed to break through in a home FA Cup clash against Championship Hull City, lost 2-0 late on at home to Barcelona, and went down 3-2 to rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
That defeat to United has left them third in the Premier League table, three points behind North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and six points off the summit ahead of their home match with Swansea City on Wednesday night.
