Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore suggested on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Saturday evening (February 27) that West Ham United should try to push for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
“You are four points off Manchester City, man,” said Collymore. “West Ham fans - you have got 12 games to go, you could easily, easily with the players that you have got, Payet on form, a little bit of momentum, the last season at the Boleyn, easily get into the top four.”
West Ham are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 43 points from 27 matches.
The Hammers are just four points behind Manchester City, who are currently fourth in the standings and occupy the final Champions League spot.
Given that City have a game in hand, that gap is potentially seven points, but can West Ham still catch them?
Manager Slaven Bilic’s side are strong and have some good players, such as Dimitri Payet, Michail Antonio and Alex Song.
The likes of City and Arsenal are stronger than the Hammers, but this is a crazy season and anything is possible.
West Ham will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League.
