Portuguese outlet Sapo Desporto has reported scouts from three British clubs were at last night's Benfica game.
The report claims Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday, and Southampton all sent scouts to the Primeira Liga game between Benfica and Uniao de Madeira.
Zenit St Petersburg, Atletico Madrid, and Real Mallorca were among clubs also reported to have representatives at the fixture.
Benfica won the game 2-0, with Brazilian striker Jonas netting two goals, making it 28 for the season in total.
Also among those to feature was former Fulham striker Kostas Mitroglou, who played 83 minutes of the game, while much hyped youngster Renato Sanches was an unused substitute. Former QPR goalkeeper and World Cup star Julio Cesar was in goal for Benfica, keeping a clean sheet.
The report does not state which individual players the scouts from respective clubs were monitoring.
Benfica are into second place in the Primeira Liga table, one point behind leaders Sporting Lisbon after 24 games.
