Villa are set to host the Toffees later today, as they aim to make a miraculous escape from relegation.
However, Wilkins has written off their chances of surviving this season, and he has suggested that Everton will prove to be too tough an opponent for Remi Garde’s side this evening.
“I think the game against Everton will be a bridge too far for them,” he said.
“Everton are doing okay at the moment. They are coming off the back of a very good FA Cup win, they’re rested up and are no doubt looking forward to it immensely. Villa are down.”
Everton travel to Villa Park having lost just one of their last five matches, and they certainly have the ability to punish Garde’s men.
The Toffees have one of the most impressive forward lines in the entirety of the Premier League, and they have shown their attacking class throughout the campaign.
Villa, on the other hand, have struggled both offensively and defensively so far this season - and that combination is never likely to be successful.
The Claret and Blues have won just three of their first 27 Premier League matches, and they are currently eight points away from safety.
When Villa and Everton met earlier in the season, Roberto Martinez’s side picked up a comfortable 4-0 victory at Goodison Park.
