Rangers: top 30 players - Number 24

He may not be on the level of Andy Goram or Stefan Klos, but Allan McGregor deserves recognition for his time at Rangers between 2001 and 2012.

It took the misfortune of Stefan Klos and Lionel Letizi to give Allan McGregor an opportunity in the Rangers goal, but the Scottish international took full advantage to become a mainstay between the sticks for six successive seasons.

Celtic claimed the title in his first year, but he ended the campaign with 31 appearances and the Player's Player of the Year award to his name. McGregor would continue to play a prominent role over the next two seasons, but he was cruelly denied the chance to feature in the UEFA Cup final in 2008 after picking up an injury. He had previously conceded just two goals in six matches in the competition.

Nevertheless, McGregor and Rangers would win the Scottish Premiership title in 2009, 2010 and 2011 during a stellar period for the club as they regained a stranglehold on the bragging rights in Glasgow. That would not last into a fourth campaign as the club's financial woes took effect, but McGregor would end his Rangers career having made 278 appearances in all competitions.

McGregor has since gone on to play for Besiktas and Hull City but they haven't topped his time with Rangers, where he claimed three league titles and eight winners medals in cup competitions.
