Mariner said: “Stan Kroenke’s not too bothered. He’s happy with the status quo, he’s happy with him [Wenger].”
Mariner was speaking in the wake of Arsenal’s loss to Manchester United, which has left them five points off top spot, and removing them as favourites for the title race.
More people believe either Spurs or Leicester will win the Premier League this season, and Wenger has come under a lot of criticism for his inability to build a team who can realistically challenge at the top of the table.
There are calls for the head coach to leave Arsenal this summer, so that the Gunners can bring in a truly top class head coach, and make them the force they were over a decade ago.
Wenger just seems a wrong fit for the state of the Premier League right now, but Mariner has explained that majority shareholder Kroenke has no problems with the Frenchman remaining in charge.
He is happy with the status quo at the Emirates, and is not too bothered to change things simply for the sake of an improved title challenge.
This is not what Arsenal fans want to hear, and they will be hoping that continued struggles for the remaining season will see Wenger out of a job come the summer.
