Harry Redknapp predicts the Championship top two; explains why he's worried for Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough, Burnley and Hull City are the front-runners in the Championship as things stand.

Harry Redknapp has told TalkSport that he believes Burnley, Hull City and Middlesbrough are the front runners for promotion from the Championship this season.

Although Brighton & Hove Albion are hot on the heels of the trio, Redknapp cannot see the south coast side catching the front runners.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss would not go as far committing to naming the sides who would finish in the automatic promotion spaces, but he was happy to narrow it down to three teams.

“I think the top two will come from Burnley, Hull and Middlesbrough,” he said.

Redknapp was not entirely positive about all of the trio’s promotion chances, however.

The 68-year-old admitted that he still worries about Middlesbrough, as he feels that they haven’t pushed on he expected them to.

Redknapp has watched Boro in action a few times this season and he hasn’t been particularly impressed by Aitor Karanka’s side, but he has backed Jordan Rhodes to be a success.

"I worry about Middlesbrough," he added. "They were disappointing last year in the [play-off] final, and I’ve looked at them once or twice when you think they were going to push on [but they haven’t].

"But they’re still right there and Jordan Rhodes will be an excellent signing. He will go a run of scoring goals."

As things stand, Burnley and Hull occupy the two spaces in the second tier, but Middlesbrough do have games in hand on them both.
