Gold has suggested that Antonio filling in at right-back will be the case against Spurs, will Sam Byram set to miss the game due to suspension.
He picked up his third booking in a West Ham shirt against Sunderland over the weekend, which takes his seasonal tally to 10, meaning he will be forced to miss the next two games.
All natural options to fill-in are out of action through injury, and Antonio is the only player left available who can play that right-back role.
He is naturally a right-winger, but earlier this season he filled in impressively at right-back when needed, and Gold believes Slaven Bilic will name the 25-year-old in his defence again.
Unfortunately for Antonio, if he is named in defence, he will be coming up against one of the best attacks in the Premier League.
Spurs have excelled this season, and Antonio will have to marshal four interchanging attacking players, as well as an extremely attacking full-back - be that Danny Rose or Ben Davies.
Antonio has excelled for West Ham this season since his move from Nottingham Forest, but Wednesday night could be his biggest challenge of the campaign so far.
