Yaya Toure may stay at Manchester City despite Guardiola arrival, says Kolo Toure

The Liverpool defender believes his brother may remain in England.

Yaya Toure could still remain at Manchester City despite the imminent arrival of Pep Guardiola, brother Kolo Toure has told the Mirror.

Yaya has been linked with a move away from the Etihad at the end of the season after a somewhat underwhelming campaign for him.

The speculation was only increased when it was announced that Guardiola would be replacing Manuel Pellegrini as manager in the summer.

That is because the Spaniard famously sold Toure to City during his reign at Barcelona, while the player’s agent has suggested a move is imminent.

Kolo though, believes that his brother could yet remain in England to work under his former manager.

"Everybody wants to play for Pep," he told the Mirror.

"He is a top manager. They know each other very well and I don't think it will be a problem if they keep working together.

"I guess Yaya wants to play for Pep but it depends on what he is thinking and what Pep is thinking. It is a difficult question. He is my younger brother but I leave him to take his decisions for his career."

It will certainly be interesting to see if Toure remains at City in the summer when Guardiola arrives.

He has been criticised for his performances this season, but can still be a top player on his day and has been that player on numerous occasions for City over the years.

His future will likely rest on whether Guardiola is planning a clean sweep at the club or small fixes, something that is yet to be revealed.
