The Manchester City goalkeeper saved three penalties in the Capital One cup final against Liverpool.
In an end-to-end affair, neither Liverpool nor Manchester City could finish the final in 130 minutes after Philippe Coutinho levelled Fernandinho’s opener.
That took the game to the lottery of a penalty shootout, with Caballero proving to be the hero of the hour as he saved three of Liverpool’s penalties to secure the cup for his side.
It was an excellent moment of redemption for the Argentine and Lineker was quick to praise him on Twitter alongside several others.

City will now be hoping that the cup win can push them onto a successful close to the end of the season.
It had been feared that they would simply fall away following the announcement that Pep Guardiola is set to replace Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.
Instead, this win could be the springboard for a late surge for the Premier League title, as it did in the Chilean’s first season in charge.
Another double in his final season in charge would certainly be a fine way to bring his reign at the Etihad to an end.
