Liverpool went down 3-1 on penalties to Premier League rivals City in the final of the League Cup at London’s Wembley Stadium.
City goalkeeper Willy Caballero made as many as three saves during the penalty shootout.
A great effort from L'pool which suggests better things to come - but well done City and Super Willy!— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) February 29, 2016
Liverpool were very good against City and did give Manuel Pellegrini’s side a run for their money.
The fact that the Citizens, who have a far better team than the Merseyside outfit, won on penalties prove just how far they were pushed.
Liverpool are unlikely to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, but they can still make it to the Champions League for the 2016-17 campaign.
Klopp’s side will take on Manchester United in the last 16 of the Europa League this campaign, and if they go on to win the competition, then they will get to play Champions League football next season.
