Liverpool have opened talks with Martin Caceres, Tuttosport reports.
The 28-year-old centre-back currently plays for Juventus, but he has managed just nine appearances in all competitions due to an Achilles injury which is set to keep him out of action until October of this year.
This means he will miss all of pre-season, as well as the start of next term, but Liverpool have already sounded out the player concerning a move to Anfield.
He is out-of-contract this summer, and the report indicates that his future is set to be away from Turin.
Liverpool have already made enquiries into his services, whilst the report also claims that clubs from Spain, Turkey and Italy want the centre-back. There is a reference to other English clubs showing an interest in Caceres, although no names are mentioned.
Caceres has played for Juventus since the summer of 2012, when he moved from Sevilla in La Liga. He has managed 110 games for the club, playing at both centre-back and right-back as the club have dominated Italian football over the last four years.
A Uruguayan international, Caceres has played 69 times for his country, featuring in two World Cups and winning the 2011 Cop America.
Caceres has a host of honours in his club career, with four Serie A titles, as well as a treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League in the 2008/09 season with Barcelona.
