Report: Everton line up Kalidou Koulibaly as John Stones replacement

Everton are ready to move for Napoli defender Koulibaly.

Everton are lining up a move for Kalidou Koulibaly as a summer replacement for John Stones, Calciomercato reports.

The Toffees have no plans to lose Stones, but he will be in big demand this summer due to his impressive form for Everton, as well as his young age and obvious potential.

Although they are not already accepting his departure, Roberto Martinez is preparing for the likelihood that the young centre-back will leave Goodison Park, and has targeted Koulibaly as his replacement.

Koulibaly, 24, is a French-born Senegalese international who has been in excellent form for Napoli this season as they fight for the Serie A title with Juventus.

Koulibaly has played 31 games in all competitions, missing just four league fixtures, as Napoli sit in second place in the league table.

Formerly of Genk and Metz, Koulibaly has truly established himself as one of Europe’s best central defenders this term, and it is no surprise that Everton are looking at him.

Koulibaly has managed 2.3 tackles, 2.4 interceptions and four clearances per game this season. He has also won 2.8 aerial battles per game, and has been one of the best centre-backs in Serie A this term.
