Manchester United beat Arsenal 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United produced a rousing performance to beat Arsenal 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, with the club's youngsters stealing the headlines.
The Red Devils were without a host of first-team stars such as Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney, meaning manager Louis van Gaal had to rely on fringe players and youth products.
However, one of those youth products came up trumps for Van Gaal, as 18-year-old striker Marcus Rashford scored twice in quick succession to put United 2-0 up.
A former United striker pulled Arsenal back into the game as Danny Welbeck found the net, only for Manchester-born striker Rashford to set up Ander Herrera for 3-1, before Mesut Ozil's consolation made it 3-2.
With all the injuries, Van Gaal was forced into starting the likes of Guillermo Varela and Rashford himself, whilst Timothy Fosu-Mensah and James Weir came on for their league debuts, with other youth products Joe Riley, Andreas Pereira and Paddy McNair ending the game as unused substitutes.
18-year-old defender Fosu-Mensah, signed from Ajax, came on to make his Old Trafford bow and certainly impressed fans on Twitter after the game, with many lauding the Dutchman's display.
Capable of playing at centre back, fullback and even in defensive midfield, the physically dominant Fosu-Mensah has been tipped for big things, and he gave the United fans a glimpse of the future with an assured second-half display, drawing praise from United fans on Twitter.
Unsurprisingly, United fans also raved about striker Rashford's display, with supporters convinced that they have a star on their hands after a mature match-winning performance on Sunday.
