Liverpool and Manchester City went head-to-head this weekend.
Liverpool suffered Capital One Cup final heartbreak on Sunday when they lost in a penalty shoot-out to Manchester City.
The match finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and with no more goals in extra-time the game went to spot-kicks, with the Blues running out 3-1 winners and their goalkeeper Willy Caballero an unlikely hero on the day.
The result was a hammer blow for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp who would have been desperate to secure some silverware so soon after arriving at Anfield.
There were plenty of sub-plots during the match itself, with Liverpool ‘keeper Simon Mignolet showing the good, the bad and the ugly of his game and City winger Raheem Sterling letting his former club off the hook with some wastefulness in front of goal.
Klopp was forced into an early change when French international Mamadou Sakho came off injured after just 25minutes, leaving Kolo Toure to come up against his brother Yaya.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of Toure’s performance at the back and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Credit Kolo Toure for stepping in and again playing so well. If LFC doesn't keep him would be a great addition for another Prem team— keith costigan (@KeithCostigan) February 29, 2016
Lucas Leiva had a great game for Liverpool there today. MOM for me, and also thought kolo toure played well as well!— Stewart Carroll (@stewart35539171) February 28, 2016
Kolo Toure, Lucas and Emre Can were immense, though. Our club is clueless if Kolo doesnt get a new contract. Absolute warrior! #LFC— Barry (@BarryM99) February 28, 2016
Kolo Toure has won the battle of the brothers, and broke Yaya in the process. Pandemonium Jeff. #LFC— Nic Mason (@MrNickMason) February 28, 2016
Kolo Toure is an absolute beast. #CapitalOneCupFinal— Pepsus Alalius (@LFC__Redman8) February 28, 2016
