Everton fans react almost unanimously on Twitter to Muhamed Besic's new contract

Everton Goodison 3

Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic has signed a new contract with the club.

Everton have tonight confirmed on their official website that midfielder Muhamed Besic has penned a new five-and-a-half year contract with the club.

The Toffees, who received major investment from new shareholder Farhad Moshiri over the weekend, have taken another step forward after hand Besic a new contract.

Besic, 23, signed for Everton from Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the summer of 2014, having starred at the World Cup with Bosnia and Herzegovina just weeks after the tournament ended.

The former Hamburg youngster has mostly been used as cover for Gareth Barry and James McCarthy in front of the Everton back four, and fans have taken to his energetic, passionate performances and never-say-die attitude.

However, the main problem for Besic has been injuries, as he has picked up a number of knocks during his time at Goodison Park, restricting his impact so far.

Manager Roberto Martinez has seemingly been suitably impressed with what Besic can do though, as he has now handed him a new contract until 2021.

Fans took to Twitter after the announcement, and were almost unanimous in their praise for the deal, as supporters seemingly rate Besic very highly.

Some stated that Besic had the potential to become club captain at Everton, and at just 23, most supporters believe he has a huge future ahead of him - which is now tied to the Toffees after his new contract was signed earlier today.
