Des McKeown offers his opinion on James Forrest situation

Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers-linked James Forrest recently turned down a new contract offer from Celtic.

Former Airdrieonians and Albion Rovers player Des McKeown has written in The Scottish Sun that Celtic fans will not be too fussed if James Forrest left the club.

“Given that Forrest has been part of Celtic’s academy and first-team squad for 11 years, it might just be time for him to spread his wings,” McKeown wrote in The Scottish Sun. “He might fancy a crack at the MLS, Europe or England.

“I’m not sure many Hoops fans will complain as he is another young Celt who never reached the heights expected of him.”

Celtic manager Ronny Deila was recently quoted as saying by The Glasgow Evening Times that Forrest has turned down a new contract offer from the Scottish Premiership giants.

This means that the 24-year-old Scotland international winger could leave Celtic Park at the end of the season.

According to The Daily Mail, Premier League side Norwich City and Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers are interested in signing Forrest in the summer transfer window.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 62 points from 27 matches.

The Glasgow giants are six points clear of Aberdeen, who are currently second in the standings and are their main title challengers.

Ronny Deila’s side will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Dundee at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
