Barclays hiring more investment bankers in U.S.

Talent acquisition.

Barclays is hiring more investment bankers to bolster its New York-based operations, as the bank prepares to tell investors it is committed to keeping its US business.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Jes Staley, the new chief executive, visited the New York operation earlier this month to reaffirm his commitment to the unit, and will this week outline his vision of a transatlantic future for the bank.

But the bank has taken on 150 managing directors and senior staff over the past 18 months in the US in a modest expansion, targeting growth industries such as health care and telecoms, with more hiring expected.
