The Gunners were beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Arsenal’s performances in the loss to Manchester United was bordering on a joke, Graeme Souness has told Sky Sports, broadcast from 1pm February 28.

The Gunners travelled to Old Trafford on Sunday looking to secure their first win there in ten years and give their title hopes another boost.

They were hopeful of getting all three points as well, with United having to name a largely inexperienced squad of youngsters for the game.

Instead Louis van Gaal’s side blew them away as two goals from youngster Marcus Rashford sent his side on the way to a 3-2 victory.

And Souness was not impressed by the performance the Gunners put in, saying it bordered on being a joke from Arsene Wenger’s side.

“Arsenal bordered on being a joke,” he told Sky Sports.

“You’re thinking it was tailor made for a proper team to come to Old Trafford and really do a number on an understrength United, and they didn’t.

“When they go to Tottenham what will they do to them? They also have to go to Barcelona. By the 16th of March, they could be out of all competitions. Six weeks ago they were a real team.”

The latest loss at Old Trafford now seems to have all but ended Arsenal’s hopes of winning the title this season.

They now find themselves third in the table, five points behind leaders Leicester City after they beat Norwich City on Saturday.

Even worse they are now three points behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur in second, with a fight to finish second never mind first very much on their hands.
