Match of the Day pundits rave about West Ham star Michail Antonio

Martin Keown and Graeme Le Saux praised West Ham winger Michail Antonio.

Pundits Martin Keown and Graeme Le Saux told BBC's Match of the Day, aired on Saturday 27th of February, that they were impressed with Michail Antonio's performance against Sunderland.

The Hammers recorded a vital win over Sunderland on Saturday, as winger Antonio bagged the only goal of the game in the first half to hand Slaven Bilic's men a 1-0 win at Upton Park.

Now up in fifth place and above Manchester United, West Ham are just four points off a Champions League place - and they had winger Antonio to thank for another superb performance.

The 25-year-old, who signed from Nottingham Forest on deadline day back in September, has now hit four goals and two assists for West Ham this season, despite his first start for the Hammers only coming back in December.

In just over two months in the West Ham first team, Antonio has already become a crowd favourite, and his display against Sunderland was just the latest in a string of fine performances.

Now, pundits Martin Keown and Graeme Le Saux have raved about Antonio, reacting to his display on BBC Match of the Day on Saturday night.

Both former England internationals noted Antonio's direct style of play, with Le Saux praising his energy and work rate down the right hand side, whilst Keown noted his long path to the Premier League, but is glad to see him causing problems in the top flight.

"He's very direct as a player," said Le Saux. "He's scored three goals in the last four games, so he's in form. He also did the simple things well; he was a target for large parts of the game, he's clearly got huge energy and he works hard."

"It's taken him a long time [to get to the Premier League]. He was at Reading, he was at Sheffield Wednesday. He's always very direct in the way that he plays, and he's a handful in the Premier League," Keown added.
