Leicester City supporters have seen plenty to be encouraged by during Daniel Amartey’s first appearance for the club against Norwich City this weekend.
Amartey joined Leicester from Copenhagen during the January transfer window, and he has had to bide his time as he has waited for an opportunity at the King Power Stadium.
The 21-year-old has been used in plenty of development matches to date, but manager Claudio Ranieri handed him a start against Norwich.
The Ghanian was selected at right-back, and he showed plenty of promise throughout the match.
Amartey’s energy was evident from minute one, and although there were still some areas he need to work on, his performance was generally an impressive one.
Amartey was actually off the pitch when Leicester struck decisively as they claimed a 1-0 victory over the Canaries.
The January signing was withdrawn in the 78th minute, before Leonardo Ulloa’s last-minute header won the match for the Foxes.
The victory has lifted them five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, as their fairy tale season continues.
Hoping Kante's fine for Tuesday but no point risking him if not. King is more than capable of doing a job, or even Amartey. #LCFC— No Fuchs Given (@ollieg21296) February 27, 2016
Amartey showed plenty of energy on his debut. Passing and positioning needs a little work but that will come. #lcfc— LH (@TheLHexperience) February 27, 2016
Wasn't really to convinced with Amartey to day he did a job but I'd certainly rather have Simpson in instead on Tuesday #LCFC— George Woods (@georgewoods08) February 27, 2016
I've criticised Ulloa a bit recently, so glad he bagged. Amartey looked decent for a first outing, and good to see Schlupp back #lcfc— Jack Gabriel (@Shug96) February 27, 2016
The only positive to draw from this game so far is the performance of Dan Amartey at right-back - looking very solid at the moment. #LCFC— Colin Hall (@Ultra_Fox) February 27, 2016
Amartey looks very promising. He has a good touch and with a bit more confidence he could be another legend. Great job! #LCFC— Blue Army TV (@bluearmy) February 27, 2016
Amartey looks full of confidence but so naive positionally. Needs to calm down and steady his game #LCFC— Charlie Carmichael (@CharlieJC93) February 27, 2016
Leicester's next match comes against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.
