City will face Premier League rivals Liverpool at London’s Wembley Stadium in the final of the prestigious competition.
“I fancy Manchester City,” Gray wrote on Paddypower.com. “They had another great result in Kiev on Wednesday. They’ve all their big players fit apart from Kevin De Bruyne and Yaya Toure looked back to his best in the away game.
“Liverpool are so hot and cold these days. They need their best form to come out and hope that City have an off day. Aguero’s back scoring and he got one during the week. He could well open the scoring. I’d be looking at Toure as well, and for Liverpool, maybe Firmino.”
A footnote added: “Andy’s bet: Manchester City to win and both teams to score at 10/3.”
“City have got the better players but I think this will be one of those games where Liverpool's manager gets them over the line,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“In a one-off shoot-out, I think Klopp will find a way to win, although I didn't say that to those City fans at Kiev Airport.”
City have the better players and the better team, and Manuel Pellegrini’s side will head into the encounter as favourites.
If Pellegrini plays his best available team, then it should not be too much of a problem for the Citizens to get the better of a largely average Liverpool side.
However, since the game is at Wembley, the Liverpool players will be determined to put on a good show.
If the Merseyside outfit score the opening goal of the encounter, then they could make things tough for City.
In cup competitions, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last eight games against City, last losing in an FA Cup fourth-round replay in 1973.
