Andy Cole has praised Marcus Rashford, after the youngster’s dream start for Manchester United.
Rashford made his senior debut for United in the Europa League on Thursday evening, and he scored twice to help Louis van Gaal’s side defeat FC Midtjylland.
The 18-year-old’s reward for netting that brace was to keep his place for United’s match against Arsenal, and he proved van Gaal’s faith in him correct.
Rashford scored twice again to help United pick up a 3-2 victory over Arsene Wenger’s side, and he also set-up Ander Herrera’s goal.
Rashford’s performance stole the headlines, but few pieces of praise are likely to mean more to him than Cole’s kind words, given he was a striker who certainly knew how to hit the back of the net at Old Trafford.
Cole scored 93 times in 195 appearances for the Red Devils and if Rashford is able to have even half of that sort impact he will have enjoyed a great career.
The youngster’s immediate aim for now will just be to keep his place in United’s starting line-up, with his next chance to impress likely to come against Watford on Wednesday evening.
