The striker has had a big impact upon his Liverpool return in recent weeks.
The Liverpool striker has recently returned to full fitness after another disappointing season of niggling injuries limiting his game time.
He has had an instant impact on the Reds' first team as well, showing the sort of incisive finishing they have been lacking all season.
That has led many to believe England manager Roy Hodgson will include him as part of his squad for Euro 2016 in France.
And Carragher is clearly among them, believing he is not only their best striker, ahead of the likes of Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy, but potentially their best player overall.
“When he is fully fit, Sturridge is England’s best striker,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I’d even go as far as saying he might be the best player Roy Hodgson takes with him to France this summer.”
“He’s certainly the one player in Liverpool’s squad that the other teams in the Barclays Premier League would love to have.”
Interestingly though, Carragher does not believe that Sturridge is the best striker in the Premier League.
Instead that honour goes to Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, who Liverpool will have to contain when the two sides meet this weekend in the Capital One Cup final.
Which striker comes out on top on Sunday is sure to determine which team ends up with the trophy in their hands.
