Stoke City made it two wins in a row this afternoon, beating the Premier League's bottom club Aston Villa 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium.
The Potters had beaten Bournemouth 3-1 last time out, whilst Villa were hoping to bounce back after a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Liverpool a fortnight ago - and whilst they kept the score down, it was the same end result for Villa, as they lost yet again.
After a quiet first half, Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring from the penalty spot, after Ashley Westwood brought down Phil Bardsley inside the penalty area.
Villa then fell two behind as Arnautovic converted from close range after his looping header fell onto his chest from virtually centimetres out.
Potters fans will have wanted to see their side turn on the style and go for more goals, but Villa hit back through Leandro Bacuna, as the Dutchman scored with Villa's only shot on target in the 90 minutes.
That was all Villa got though, as they couldn't find a late equaliser, leaving them still eight points adrift of safety, whilst Stoke moved up into eighth place, giving them a great chance of chasing European qualification before the end of the season.
