Middlesbrough travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday looking for all three points as they eye a return to the Premier League this season.
They are currently third in the table, just a point behind Burnley in second place and two points behind leaders Hull City.
Manager Karanka is currently one of the hottest up and coming managers in the game as a result of his work at the Riverside, and his counterpart has backed him to have a big future in the game.
“He is one of the most talented coaches in the league, he has built a more solid team and a team headed for promotion,” he told GetWestLondon.
“Everyone in Spain knows Aitor Karanka, and he has a very bright and shiny future.
“He’s built a very competitive team. I know him mostly as a professional, but there are people who know him better who have a high opinion of him.”
Should Middlesbrough fail to secure promotion this season, it would be interesting to see how long Karanka remains at the club.
While they would be unlikely to sack him in that eventuality, there is sure to be firm interest in his services from the Premier League given the work he has done so far.
And should they fail to get promoted, there could be several clubs who would be willing to make a firm offer for his services in the summer.
